Author Mick Szydlowski lives in Seattle with his wife and two young daughters, and their two cats, Oskar & Klaus. Mick has a passion for photography, music, outdoor exploration, and wildlife conservation. He is an advocate for special needs pet adoption, and is always thrilled to hear from people who were encouraged to adopt a special needs pet as a result of learning Oskar’s story.
Oskar the Blind Cat has been entertaining and inspiring fans around the world since 2011! His YouTube channel has been viewed millions of times, not counting the viral music videos he starred in with Grumpy Cat. He has been featured on countless TV programs from as far away as Japan, China, and Finland. In the US, Oskar has been seen on Ellen, CNN, MTV, Good Morning America, Today Show, as well as in multiple print appearances in Time, Women’s Day, and Cat Fancy. His ever-growing Instagram and Facebook fan base consists of people committed to raising healthy, happy pets. Additionally, Oskar (and his sidekick, Klaus) are featured in two illustrated children’s books used in classrooms across the country. Oskar is a spokespet for the National Federation of the Blind, and its Braille Literacy Ambassador. Oskar’s book will actually be read live from the International Space Station by an astronaut in August of this year, and his story shared in even more classrooms!
